Day 48 of 365...
Tonight we had a photo shoot of my kids, my sister's kids and my sister's grandbaby. I was thinking we would have more sun than we did so I didn't have my mind right for how to adapt. I am getting great at natural light photography but I have a long way to go with flash photography. This is in my garage with a pvc pipe backdrop stand and black fleece blankets. I have an AB400 flash unit but I haven't had the time to figure it out. I also have a speedlight SB 600 that I should have grabbed out of the camera bag but it never crossed my mind. These are just a few of the reasons that it takes so much practice to know enough go pro. Hopefully I'll be there in a year or two. In the meantime I am PBing with 50% off prices. Anywho... At first I tried to shoot with a 2.8 aperature (never a good idea with more than one subject) then when I closed my aperature a bit I had to use the flash. However, after not too many shots I realized I could adjust my ISO and I was able to get some natural light shots, but the sun was going down and I had to return to flash. Of course with seven people my flash wasn't reaching as far as I had to stand back to get them all in the picture so I again raised my ISO. These are great lessons. Next time it's not bright enough I will have my SB600 ready (or maybe have even figured out my AB400). I probably also should have switched to my 18-55mm lens instead of my 50mm fixed. Just thinking out loud.
HHCC Always Appreciated!!
