Day 96...
Let the Games Begin...
Abby's first Blastball game of the season was held last night. It is soooo funny to watch 3 and 4 year olds play sports! There is no sense of urgency. One girl fell down and decided to stay on the ground for a bit to check out what was down there before her mom had to pick her up.
For fun, let's explain the rules of Blastball. There are only 4-5 girls on each team. When it's time for the girls to bat the other team lines up behind a line and take turns fielding the ball (which usually slowly rolls right past them before they remember it's their turn to pick it up and hand it to the coach). The girl batting hits it off of a tee (or actually, especially in Abby's case) hits the middle of the tee and the ball sort of rolls towards the outfield. Then after a minute of celebration the girl runs (with or without the bat) to "first base" which is a base with a horn in it and jumps up and down on the base, or sits on the base, or runs to mommy and daddy, while the next girl bats. There is usually just one base, but we had an extra so we tried to encourage the girl on first to run to second when the batter hits the ball. However, second base doesn't have a horn in it so it's not nearly as exciting. Once during practice after Abby hit the ball, she went to run to first base but there was already a girl on it who wasn't running to second base so Abby just ran halfway across the field to another team's practice and jumped on their first base. I'm telling ya, the horn is a great incentive!! Fun was had by all!! I haven't taken many "sports" pictures so these need improvement I'm sure, but I thought they were worth sharing!!

I'm sure the settings are different for each of them. (I think next time I'll put the camera on Shutter priority and spend less time worrying about exposure and more time enjoying the game)

HHCC Always Welcome and Appreciated!

these are so cute! I love her crouching on the base and the "hit" is just perfect. I see she's wearing her new shoes! :) Great job and TFS!
