A few weeks ago my oldest, Madison, found a butterfly floating in the pool. I was convinced it had breathed its last breath, but Madison wasn't so sure. She got it out and set it down and a few minutes later it's wings were dry and it flew away.
**before we go on you have to understand that our whole family LOVES butterflies...we have a butterfly garden right outside our kitchen window and we get to witness their beauty several times a day

So, yesterday when Abby saw another butterfly floating in the pool she was ready for the rescue. She carefully got it out and was gleeful when immediately it's feet began to move. She was mesmerized by it as it crawled around on her fingers for five or so minutes before flying away safely. She was so proud of herself.

I can't help but thing of the analogy of God every time I see a butterfly and the new life it represents. In this case Abby represents our God who rescues us from the sin we are drowning in. We can choose to move our feet to the safety of His hands or we can continue to drown in our humanity. He holds us close as the sin that weighed us down is lifted and we are able to spread our wings and become the beautiful creatures He created us to be.
